Trillanes to visit Singapore DBS Bank to prove Duterte wrong
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV who flew to Singapore last Monday will be having his scheduled bank appointment in DBS Bank today to debunk President Duterte’s allegation of him owning offshore bank accounts.
“Dito mapapakita na hindi lang sa wala akong tinatago, kung hindi kung gaano siya kasinungaling,” Trillanes told reporters before he left for SG.
According to President Duterte, the senator’s alleged account with DBS is numbered 178000296012 wherein it has a balance of 193,000. The president did not specify the currency of the said amount.
Duterte said in a television interview last September 15, his informant said that Trillanes’ SG account is only one of the few singly owned among the numerous joint accounts he allegedly has.
However, the report also said these accounts are owned by other people named Antonio Trillanes. The account names lack the suffix "IV."
"Maybe this is the reason why he is willing to sign a bank waiver. Because no IV or number IV in the name of Antonio Trillanes. But the date of birth and account owner has been confirmed," said the President.
Trillanes retorted in his defense, “Kung ano man yan, may the IV man yan o walang IV, sarado man yan or existing account, joint or single, lahat yan papabuksan natin. Para makita ng mga kababayan natin na ginagamit ni Duterte yung kapangyarihan niya para siraan yung oposisyon at para i-divert yung issue palayo doon sa issue laban sa kanya at doon sa kanyang anak na invovled na illegal drugs.”.
