DILG official files libel complaint vs Rappler reporter
Department of the Interior and Local Government Undersecretary John Castriciones is seeking legal action against Rappler reporter Rambo Talabong for misleading and libelous reports made against him.
It is said that Castriciones is filing the libel case on the grounds of Talabong’s reports implying that Castriciones’ “floating status” was official when in fact it was not yet implemented during that time. According to him, Talabong also did not mention that he still had roles within the department, yet he made it seem like he was completely dismissed.

It can be recalled that Castriciones was among the three undersecretaries that were complained against by the DILG employees. The complaints were raised to President Rodrigo Duterte and the employees requested that the three officials be dismissed from their duties in the department.

After the story of the incident spread, DILG officer-in-charge Catalino Cuy told the press that the fate of the three DILG officials will be up to the Malacañang.
However, the report of Talambong indicated that the three officials, Castriciones included, were placed on “floating status” and were stripped of their responsibilities from the department, all of which Castriciones alleges that Talabong hinted malice at in the report.
The story of the libel case was published in the Rappler website itself.
Rappler claims that other news organizations have also reported on the status of the 3 DILG officials.
