Writer blasts PNoy for his claims of development in APEC

Opinion writer of Remate and Daily Sun, Ed Dan Verzola furiously and vehemently called out former President Benigno Simeon Aquino III for his claims of Philippine development in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) held under his last year in the office of the president.

According to Verzola, in the said high-profile summit where leaders across the globe met and talked about pressing issues of the world, former President Benigno Aquino III or Pnoy, allegedly claimed that the Philippines has transition from the ‘sick man of Asia’ to the colorfully named, ‘darling of Asia’.

Verzola said that Pnoy claimed that the development was a product of his policies and his crackdown on corruption, highlighting Pnoy’s pride over impeaching the Former Chief Justice Renato Corona and former President and current Representative of the 2nd District of Pampangga Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. He found the claim of the said president as arrogant and boastful.

“Hindi bobo ang mga dumalo sa APEC, Mr. Benigno Tres. Sila ay mga matatalinong opisyal sa kani-kanilang bansa at alam ang lahat ng uri ng balita ukol sa Republika ng Pilipinas. Alam na alam nila kung gaano kahina ang ekonomiya at kabulok ang inyong pamamahala.” he said.

It seems that Verzola is saying that Pnoy lied to the world leaders in the said summit but the world leaders did not buy into it because they apparently knew better.

Verzola then brought how, according to him, international institutions like the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and United Nations knew the real situation of the Philippines and he seems to have implied that the said institutions did not share the same optimistic view of the former president.

Issues on the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) and the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) were also reminded by Verzola.
He claimed that these problems were indicative of the underdevelopment of the Philippine during Pnoy’s term.
