BUMANAT NANAMAN! Trillanes on Paolo Duterte’s resignation: Delicadeza, seriously?

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, a staunch critic of the Duterte administration said that he is not buying the resignation of Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte from his post out of delicadeza.

In a statement, Duterte said he is resigning from his post effective December 25 out of delicadeza, citing "recent unfortunate events in my life that are closely tied to my failed first marriage."

"Delicadeza, seriously? Pinatulan nga niya 'yung anak niya publicly sa Facebook, tapos delicadeza? Besides, he has already been cleared months ago by Gordon's committee de abswelto.” Trillanes said in a statement.

"So, that's pure BS. He is probably just preempting the numerous investigations against him by the Ombudsman. Also, he most likely needs more time to focus on managing his multi-billion peso businesses," Trillanes added.

Duterte announced his resignation early Monday, citing his supposed involvement in the Bureau of Customs (BOC) smuggling case and his public quarrel with Isabelle as reasons.

"There are recent and unfortunate events in my life that are closely tied to my failed first marriage. These, among others, include the maligning of my reputation in the recent name-dropping incident in the Bureau of Customs smuggling case and the very public squabble with my daughter," he said.

Meanwhile, Senator Vicente Sotto, in a separate statement, said the presidential son deserves the respect of the public.

"He has his personal reasons but then it shows that Vice Mayor Pulong respects delicadeza and he has honor to protect. It also proves he is not the 'kapit tuko' type," said Senator Vicente Sotto III.

Senator JV Ejercito said,

"He most likely wanted to spare the President of further controversies from both personal and political issues," he said.

"It takes guts and courage to make that ultimate sacrifice," Ejercito added.
