It’s a small matter - Duterte responds to bashing against granddaughter’s Malacañang photo shoot



President Rodrigo Duterte finally spoke out about the controversy surrounding his granddaughter Isabelle Duterte, who had a grand pre-debut photo shoot at the Malacañang Palace, something that numerous netizens found issue with.


It was during the celebration of the 39th birthday of senator and boxer Manny Pacquiao that the president gave his piece over the issue.


His granddaughter, Isabelle Lovelie Duterte, daughter of his son and Vice Mayor of Davao, Paolo Duterte, will be celebrating her 18th birthday on January 26 and decided to have a photo shoot at the Malacañang Palace. After the photos of the shoot came out, the debutant faced backlash and criticisms, to which the president respondent that it was just a small matter that the people should not hammer on.

It’s a small matter. Gamitin lang ang Malacañang. Wala naman ako doon and even if I was there, eh, kung granddaughter ko magpa-picture, lahat nga ng mga bisita dyan nagpapa-picture eh,” he said.

You know that girl, ang nanay nya Maranao. May mga (kaanak) ako na Muslim. Kaya kayong mga Moro don’t be offended by my words. I am just trying to tell you that there’s a problem which we have to solve together,” he added.


Multiple photos of Isabelle Duterte has been circulating online. It was her style team who initially posted the photos on Instagram, to which netizens and multiple news agencies have shared across online mediums.

The most shared photo of the presidential granddaughter was of her wearing a Garimon Roferos blood red ball gown. Other photos of Isabelle Duterte was that of her in a pink gown posing in from of the presidential seal and Philippine flag, as well as her in a floral dress at the Palace grounds.
