Malacañang: Nothing wrong with debut photoshoot
Harry Roque, Presidential Spokesperson, recently announced that the photo shoot done inside the Malacañang Palace by debutante Isabelle Duterte, granddaughter of President Rodgrigo Duterte, was not wrong and did not warrant the backlash that it got from some concerned citizens.
In his statement, he said that the presidential granddaughter was simply an ordinary citizen who wanted to have a photo shoot inside the Malacañang Palace, just like any other citizen.
He added that is should not even have been an issue considering the fact that Isabelle Duterte and her family should be living in the Malacañang Palace as part of the Presidential family, but did not choose to do so. This fact, according to him, warrants Isabelle to take photos inside the palace just like ordinary citizens.
“Sa ’kin, wala namang masama doon. Nag-pose lang for birthday pictures yung apo ni Presidente sa Malacañang,” Roque said.
“I don’t think it should be an issue. Kasi dapat nga nakatira sila sa Malacañang. Hindi naman sila tumitira sa Malacañang so gaya sila ng ordinaryong mamamayan na pwede ring magpicture-picture sa Malacañang,” he added.
“Huwag na po nating ipagkait yung photo opportunity sa loob ng Palasyo,” Roque said.
Isabelle Duterte is said to celebrate her 18th birthday on January 26. The shoot was managed by Rita Neri Event Planners and stylist Jeff Galang.
Isabelle is the daughter of Davao Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, the son of President Rodrigo Duterte.
The issue of Isabelle’s photo shoot stormed the internet when a photo of her in a red gown was released.
The palace also defended that taxpayer’s money was not used in the events that happened inside the palace.
“Ayaw na lang lumalabas ni presidente para sa mga social events so kung gusto mo makasama ang presidente, pupunta ka dito, dala-dala mo caterer mo. Walang taxpayer’s money,” Roque said.
