Sara Duterte on Trillanes’ remarks vs. Pulong: ‘Mema lang’

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte slams Senator Antonio Trillanes IV's remarks against Davao Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, who resigned from his position Monday, Christmas Day.

In a statement, Paolo Duterte said he is resigning from his post effective December 25 out of delicadeza, citing "recent unfortunate events in my life that are closely tied to my failed first marriage."

In a text message, Trillanes called the resignation of Paolo as pure BS and just an attempt to “preempt investigations against him.”

Delicadeza, seriously? Pinatulan nga nya yung anak nya publicly sa Facebook, tapos delicadeza?” Trillanes said in a text message.

Besides, he has already been cleared months ago by Gordon’s committee de abswelto. So, that’s pure BS,” he added.

"That's pure BS. He is probably just preempting the numerous investigations against him by the Ombudsman. Also, he most likely needs more time to focus on managing his multi-billion peso businesses," Trillanes said.

Sara, a lawyer, said Paolo's resignation would not make him less liable to charges he could face before the Ombudsman.

"So dili na because mag-resign ka, dili naka i-imbestigahan. Si Trillanes, kuan lang na siya, mema para memasabi," Sara said.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque told reporters in Marawi City that Trillanes' remarks should be ignored.

"That doesn't deserve a comment kasi paano naman magiging BS iyon, eh nagbibitaw iyong tao sa posisyon?" Roque said.

"Hinalal siya ng taumbayan, meron siyang mga kapangyarihan, at sinabi niya na na pwede niyang talikuran ang lahat na iyan alang-alang lang doon sa delicadeza," he added.

"Siguro iba lang ang values system natin. But that’s certainly not BS. marami ngang humahanga kay Vice Mayor Duterte dahil talaga namang minabuti niya na kumbaga balewalain ang kanyang kapangyarihan at prehibiliyo bilang alagad ng taumbayan," he added.
