Inday Sara fires back at Rappler and yellowtards for blaming Duterte on SEC's moved to shut them down

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has moved to shut down Rappler Inc., which violated the Constitution’s restriction on foreign ownership of local media.

Rappler CEO Maria Ressa, in a press conference, said the SEC ruling did not go through due process.

"They didn't go through due process. The en banc, essentially, issued an order to shut us down without giving us the opportunity to respond to what the special panel found. It wasn't a normal process," she said.

She also believes that the recent decision is the final step in the harassment that journalists are facing under the Duterte administration.

"I guess this is the last part of the kind of harassment that journalists have had in the last year or so. In Rappler, it began a year and a half ago," Ressa said.

Meanwhile, Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio speak up and hits Maria Ressa and Rappler.

In a Facebook post of the Davao Breaking News - 2  Facebook page, they released a statement of Sara about the issue of Rappler.

Sara called the yellowtards, Maria Ressa and the officers or Rappler idiots for blaming the administration in the takedown of Rappler.

"DAVAO CITY MAYOR SARA DUTERTE-CARPIO STATEMENT ON RAPPLER:

The yellowtards, Maria Ressa and the officers of Rappler are idiots for blaming the administration for curtailing press freedom.

The chairperson of SEC, Ma. Teresita Herbosa, is an appointee of PNoy, therefore it was the appointee of the past administration who curtailed press freedom and not President Duterte’s admin."
