Cebuano Lawyer defends Sarah Duterte from a barrage of criticisms

Bruce Villafuerte Rivera, lawyer from Cebu, and a supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte, vehemently defends Davao City Mayor, “Inday” Sara Duterte-Carpio from what he claims to be efforts from opposition to politicize Sara Duterte to stop her from winning in a national election, should she be fielded for it.

Sara Duterte, under the scrutiny of the publicly, is currently being rumored to be the Vice-President of the former senator and son former President Ferdinand Marcos, Bongbong Marcos. 

Moreover, it seems that Rivera is implying that the said Davao City Mayor is also being criticize for the companies she is representing.

It should also be noted that Sara Duterte’s husband was also accused by Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV to be involved in the corruption scandal of the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

Rivera, through a Facebook post called out the “early” declaration of Sara Duterte as the vice-presidential bid of Bongbong Marcos as a political attack aimed on exposing her to unnecessary public scrutiny. 

He claimed that Sara is unlikely to be interested in the seat of vice-president because according to Rivera, Sara Duterte is not interested in politics. 

Moreover, according to Rivera, Sara would not want to be part of Bongbong Marcos’s slate because it would alienate the anti-Marcos supporters of Sara and according to Rivera, Sara Duterte does not want to divide people instead she wants to bring forth unity.

Rivera also calls out the criticism of Sara Duterte’s profession as a lawyer. According to Rivera, people seem to be criticizing because Sara Duterte is representing companies that are doing deplorable actions.

He, being a lawyer himself, said that lawyers are not accountable to all of the actions of their clients. He further said lawyers are only accountable to answering the legal problems of their clients, and they are accountable to that. 

The post ended with Rivera calling out opposition forces for using such dirty tactics in politics against the Davao City Mayor.

"JUST AS EXPECTED..

Sinisiraan na si Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio at malamang hindi lang mga Dilawan ang masaya nito kundi ang mga threatened sa kanya. Ang masaklap nito, walang planong tumakbo ang lola mo apart from being Mayor in Davao City or representing Davao in Congress.

May nagclaim pa na siya daw ang VP ni BBM kasi some PR guy can make it happen. Ano daw? Hindi ba masyadong maaga para pag-usapan ang ganyan.

Eto yung totoong nasa isip ko.

Ang mga nagsasabing tatakbo si Inday Sara ngayon pa lang ay hindi kakampi kundi kalaban. Bakit? Hello, hindi ba si Binay ang aga nagpacute kaya ang aga din natisod. Ano plano niyo, iexpose agad si Sara sa attack when in fact, alam namin na ayaw niya magpolitika. Tanungin niyo nga yung asawa niyang si Mans Carpio. And by teaming her up with BBM will alienate those who are anti-Marcos when in reality, Sara is for unity. Di ba sa Tapang at Malasakit, andun nga lahat, si Cayetano, si Marcos, si Erap at madami pang iba.

And kung may naging client siyang corporation na may ginawang kalokohan, kasalanan ba niya yan? Mga tanga, abogado kami hindi kami nagpapatakbo ng kumpanya. Malay pa namin kung di nagbabayad ng buwis kung hindi naman sinita ng BIR. May mga bagay na kaming mga corporate lawyers hindi namin nalalaman.

Hindi tax lawyer si Sara na alam kung nangogoyo sila. May kumpanya nga akong pinatigil niya sa Davao dahil di nagbayad ng tamang buwis dahil di ko din alam na may discrepancy sa tax payments.

Abogado kami hindi kami mga PR. Trabaho namin ang ayusin ang legal na problema sa mga bagay na sinasabi ng kliyente namin. Yung mga di sinasabing problema o kalokohan nila, out na kami dun. At wala kaming obligasyon pabanguhin ang pangalan ng kliyente namin kaya di kami nang-uusisa sa mga ayaw nilang sabihin. Unethical yun.

Alam ko na laro niyo. Kunwari kakampi kayo pero idadamay niyo lang ang kaibigan ko para siraan siya ng mga walang bayag na tatakbo at manalo hind base sa kanilang nagawa kundi paninira sa iba. Dyan nanalo ang Dilawan at binago na natin yan, di ba? Positive campaign.
