Aquino says the LP will rise again soon

Former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, stated in a speech during the celebration of the 72nd founding anniversary of the Liberal Party that they will soon rise again.

Vice President Leonor “Leni” Robredo was also present in the celebration and she shared the same sentiments with the former president.

Aquino said that although the Liberal Party has been attacked so many times but it has always managed to get back up.

"Maski na matagal-tagal na tayong binubugbog, mukhang malapit na ho tayong buumangon at pabugbog muna. Mas maliwanag 'yung bukas dahil nandito kayong lahat,” said Aquino to the party.

Over 500 new LP members took their oaths in simultaneous events that happened in Manila, Cebu and Naga.

"Many of them applied through the party's newly launched online recruitment platform. They are a mix of professionals, from various sectoral groups, millennials, seniors, etc. who are fed up with this administration's abuse of power, and who are looking for a space to come together and resist," said Ifugao Representative Teddy Baguilat Jr, who broke the news about the new recruits in a statement he released.

As the celebration all throughout the Philippines were simultaneously held, Senator Francis Pangilinan led that of Cebu.

"Habang ang ilang kasamahan o kababayan natin, mga pulitiko at iba pang mga grupo ay paalis at lumilisan at iniiwan ang Partido Liberal, hindi totoong tayo ay mawawala," he said.

"Tayo sa Liberal Party, we have been through hell and back. And we in the Liberal Party, to borrow and paraphrase the words from the poet Dylan Thomas: 'We will not go quietly into this dark night,'" he added.
