Magkita tayo Sison sampalin kita - Duterte

In a speech during the launch of the TienDA Para sa mga Bayani at Camp General Manuel T. Yan, Sr. in Mawab, Compostela Valley, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte threatened to slap the founder of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), Jose Maria Sison, who also happens to be his former professor.

Duterte is still completely against the communist rebels, as shown in the statements he recently released.

This statement coming from Duterte, comes just days after he said he was open to holding a dialogue with him and the CPP.

This proposal coming from Duterte was readily accepted by Sison stating that he is very willing to do it provided they hold the dialogue in a neutral country.

Magkita tayo Sison sampalin kita, tingnan mo… Sige, umuwi ka… tikim ka talaga sa akin,” said Duterte.

However, it seems like after he released this statement, he is now against the idea of the dialogue.

In addition to this, Duterte said that the CPP has been hanging on to an extremely outdated ideology that plays no part in the current society anymore.

"Kayo mag-rebolusyon, it’s 50 god***n years. Nakikinig pa ako kay Sison noon. Walang nangyari hanggang ngayon,” said Duterte.

The Philippine president said that it was obvious that the communist party was getting desperate because they do not know if anyone else will continue on their fight.

It was in November of last year that the government terminated its peace talks with the rebels. After which, the CPP and its armed branch, the New People’s Army were labelled as terror organizations.

Sison was the professor of President Duterte at the Lyceum of the Philippines. In addition to this, they were also once friendly.

When Duterte was still Mayor of Davao city, the communist leaders hailed him. He even has leftists in his cabinet.

Presidente na ako ngayon, tapos maghingi kayo ng coalition government. You know coalition [government] has something to do with the critical decisions of the Republic of the Philippines. And according to the law, only those persons who are elected by their leaders --- by the people can exercise the power of sovereignty,” said Duterte.
