PCOO exec apologizes to Pacquiao over ‘mistress’ FB post

At the resumption of the Senate hearing on fake news, Senator Manny Pacquiao confronted Communications Undersecretary Lorraine Badoy over a Facebook post the latter made two years ago which reads: “Guess what I saw when I went on a run this morning in my village? Manny Pacquiao’s campaign car in front of his mistress’ house.

Pacquiao asked Badoy whether she still remembers what she shared on Facebook prior the 2016 national elections.

I still remember na pinicture-an mo yung bahay ng tao ko and then sabi mo, ‘this is the house of the mistress of Manny Pacquiao’,” Pacquiao said.

I still cannot forget what you did to me last election. I’m sure you remember that,” Pacquiao said.

I forgive you but I want you to say sorry in front of me,” he added.

Badoy initially defended her post, saying it was made in reaction to a hurtful remark of Pacquiao on same-sex marriage. Pacquiao, in February 2016, was slammed for saying that same-sex relationships are “masahol pa sa hayop.

What you said about the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community was very hurting to me. It really really hurts me because a lot of people close to my heart belong to that community…” she said.

Badoy then apologized, saying blogging has taught her to be compassionate, decent, and fair.

“..…I think I owe you an apology because I did hurt you and I’m very sorry but then I hope you understand…” she said.

Yung natutunan ko all these years sa blogging and being online is napakalaking bagay na maging compassionate and fair, which is why I think I owe you an apology because I hurt you,” Badoy said.

“Having been at the receiving end of lies as well sa anonymous blogs, I do know how this feels,” she added.

Badoy said she has yet to correct the Facebook post she made.

There is a lesson here that we live in a world that’s getting closer to each other and if you say something that’s hurtful and there is a chance that the hurt is brought back to your home,” Badoy said.

Pacquiao said he wanted to file a case against Badoy but was persuaded against it. He again made Badoy apologize “sincerely.”

When I hurt people’s feelings, I am very sincere about my apology,” Badoy said. Pacquiao then accepted Badoys apology.

Back in 2016, members of Team Pacquiao already denied the claim made by Badoy on Facebook.
